ARTISTS FOR ANIMALS FAIRE™Location: Apex Chamber of Commerce parking lot, 220 N. Salem St., Apex NC 27502 – Date: Sunday, May 21, 2017
Once again the Apex Arts Council (AAC) will hold our Artists for Animals™ Faire this spring. Well over one-hundred artists and almost five-hundred visitors enjoyed previous editions of this spectacular art event. As in the past, half of the proceeds from the event will be donated by the AAC to three (yet to be named) animal rescue groups.
We will have painters selling their work, but we are also planning venues for photographers, sculptors, poets, musicians, authors, dance, independent film, and perhaps even theater. This will give anyone attending the event the chance to be exposed to as many art forms as possible. The event will be held in the Apex Chamber of Commerce parking lot right in the heart of historic downtown Apex, so attendees will also have the option of shopping along Salem Street that day.
Now, how could we hold an event like this without some non-human animals attending as well? We are now arranging for horses (including some miniatures), cats and dogs (at an adoption event within our larger event), and perhaps rabbits, ferrets, goats, turtles, geckos, and whatever to be with us. Carolina Tiger Rescue is expected to be there as well, and while they will not have a tiger with them (Tigers are NOT portable!), they usually bring a tiger transport trailer to show visitors how that is done, and their volunteers will do tiger face-painting with some in tiger and lion costumes!
CALL FOR ARTISTS – DETAILSAlthough the show is themed towards animals, any of your art is welcome to be a part of the show. Each type of art will have its own general area on the grounds with a specific Producer (coordinator) assigned to organize that part of the event. Please see below for your particular type of art and instructions for being a part of the show. Space should not be limited at this event, so artists from anywhere within the State of North Carolina are welcome.
Space Applications: All artists should apply in advance to allow us to organize the show. All registrations and payments should be received by the AAC no later than 5:00pm on Thursday, 18 May 2017.
